Region: Tel Aviv
Tel afek is located by the sources of the Yarkon, one of the biggest streams in israel.
It dominates the Via Maris, the ancient road which connected Egypt with Mesopotamia and therefore was an important strategic place since ancient times.
At the end of the 1st century B.C., it was rebuilt by king Herod who named it Antipatris, after his father.
The impressive fortress to be seen today was built in the 16th century, during the Othman regime of israel.
On this tour we will start in N.P. Tel Afek and then ride down the beautiful Yarkon, through the Yarkon park to the harbor of Tel Aviv.
